Our Story

Born from a shared passion for the outdoors, Big Lake Brewing was founded in 2008 by three engineering friends in West Michigan. They named their brewery as a tribute to the place that inspires their adventures: the “Big Lake,” Lake Michigan.

Big Lake was made to be a part of the journey. Whether you’re heading out for a day of camping, hiking, fishing, or disc golf, our beer is designed to go right along with you. Over a decade later, that spirit of adventure is still at the heart of everything we do.

Meet the Team

Around here, it’s not just about what’s on tap; it’s about the people behind it. From the folks working hard in the back to the team making sure you’re taken care of up front, everyone’s part of the fabric that makes Big Lake… Big Lake. Meet the folks who keep us flowing.

Travis Prueter

Founder

As founder, Travis brings both precision and creativity to the beer you know and love, always guided by the same curiosity and camaraderie that started it all.

Day to day, Travis is focused on growing Big Lake and ensuring that everyone who walks through the doors enjoys not only the beer but also the experience.

When he’s not at the brewery, you’ll probably find him fishing, hiking, or out on the golf course. So it’s no coincidence that Big Lake is the beer that brings you outdoors.

Bailey Villanueva

Marketing & Retail Manager

Bailey Villanueva is the Marketing and Retail Manager at Big Lake Brewing, where she brings the Big Lake vibe to life. From curating events the Holland community loves, to keeping Big Lake’s social feeds fresh with the latest trends and content, Bailey makes sure the brand feels just as fun online as it does in the pub.

When she’s not creating magic with the Big Lake team, you’ll find her hanging out with friends, catching up on the latest viral trends, or spoiling her dog.

Zachary Dreyer

Director of Brewing Operations

Zach Dreyer is the Director of Brewing Operations at Big Lake Brewing, where he’s been proud to lead the brewing team since the fall of 2017. With a deep respect for craft and creativity, he oversees everything from recipe development to production, always with an eye toward quality and innovation.

When he’s not in the brewhouse, you’ll find him outside: golfing, hiking, or manning the smoker for a backyard BBQ. He has a passion for bold flavors, whether that means crafting a new IPA, perfecting a smoked brisket, or experimenting in the kitchen. Good food, good beer, and good company, that’s the sweet spot.

Mike Jones

General Manager

As General Manager of Big Lake Brewing, Mike Jones oversees the heart of our pub operations with a passion for craft beer and exceptional hospitality. Mike ensures our taproom runs smoothly, delivering outstanding guest experiences and showcasing our award-winning brews. With a keen eye for detail, he manages daily operations, supports our dedicated staff, and fosters a welcoming environment where every visitor feels like part of the Big Lake community.

Clay Cooper

Director of Sales

Clay is the Director of Sales and loves nothing more than bouncing event and beer ideas around with his team, except maybe sipping on a Fancy poured from the side pull.

When he’s not working, he’s hanging with his family, reading, or lamenting the slow betrayal of his knees. He avoids anything before 9 am, and his dog, Toasted Coconut Marshmallow, sounds more like a beer release than a pet, though honestly, it could be both.

Head Chef

Jeremy Snider

Chef Jeremy has honed his skills with 20+years of experience working in area kitchens, absorbing traditional techniques and a deep appreciation for local ingredients.

Chef Jeremy’s philosophy is simple: respect the ingredients. He believes the best dishes start with the highest quality, locally sourced produce and meats. At Big Lake Brewing, he brings this belief to life, crafting a menu that balances classic methods with vibrant flavors.

When he’s not in the Kitchen, Jeremy can be found cycling with the Main Street Bicycle Co. X Big Lake Brewing Race Team in Mountain and Gravel Bike competitions across the state.

Giving

Back

At Big Lake, community isn’t a buzzword; it’s the heart of everything we do. From the first pint to every partnership, our mission has been simple: to make beer that brings people together.

We don’t just show up for our neighbors, we stand shoulder to shoulder with them. From local nonprofits and charity fundraisers, we believe that real impact begins right here in Michigan.

And for those who live for collaboration? We see you. We partner with like-minded Michigan makers who share our passion for quality and community, including community ambassadors, food producers, outdoor lifestyle brands, and local artisans. When we collab, it’s not just about slapping a logo on a can. It’s about storytelling, shared values, and crafting something that reflects and fights for the spirit of this state.

Work

With Beer

Seriously, it’s a job!

Working at Big Lake means joining a team that takes beer seriously, but not too seriously. It’s a chance to grow, learn, and be part of something authentic.
